Our Very Own Superheroes

According to the School Nutrition Association, May 1st is School Lunch Hero Day.
"School Lunch Hero Day is a chance to showcase the difference school nutrition professionals make for every child who comes through the cafeteria. School Lunch Hero Day provides you with the perfect opportunity to recognize the hardworking professionals in your school cafeterias."
We feel that way everyday and especially since we last saw students on March 17th! Almost 25,000 meals were prepared and distributed in the month of April alone. Today, we would like to honor and recognize the wonderful heroes that continue to make and distribute meals to students across our district.

Our food service directors are: Debra Bissonette, Scott Wagner, Leo LaForce, Elizabeth Skypeck, and Rebecca Mashak.

We'd love to include the names of each and every staff person and volunteer who is helping to ensure
that anyone ages 18 and younger are receiving meals during this critical time. However, the list is long and we don't want to leave anyone off. They know who they are and we hope that everyone finds a way to say thank you to this amazing group of people.

Here are a few thoughts from faculty and staff about our foodservice heroes:
  • We are so SPOILED by all of you. The professionalism, care, and mostly just the general awesomeness you bring to the school every day!
  • All of the friendly faces in the cafeteria! Jockeying for position with hungry adolescents! Looking forward to the next time we can all line up and grab a tray...
  • I miss the breakfasts and lunches! Breakfast at my house is lame.
  • Our cafeteria is the heart of CVU! You all start our day with a smile and warmth, not only for our stomachs but our souls!
  • I have 18-ish years of food service experience and I am nothing but impressed every time I go into the cafe. It is a busy place with a lot going on and you all handle it with calmness and a friendly Hello (even if it doesn't always feel calm). You keep a clean and organized work space and for that I am in awe and so thankful for all that you do. I miss seeing you all and can't wait until we can all be together again.
  • Our cafeteria is the best and I am reminded of that every day that I now need to make my own lunch. Thanks for all you do for our school and community!
  • Are you KIDDING me right now? How is this only one day of the year??? Y'all know every student, faculty, and staff's face, name, and I.D. number -- heck, our favorite foods for breakfast, lunch and everything in between, besides... Every time we walk through those doors, you can hear Marv Levy's (former Buffalo Bills coach) voice calling out, "Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?!"
  • Thank you for everything you are all doing! Amazing!!!
  • You are an amazing group of women making a huge difference in children's lives!
  • Thank you all for everything you are doing for our wonderful kids!
  • They are the greatest bunch of lunch ladies ever.. I am so proud of each and every one of them.
